About the Event
Acclaimed  Jazz and World music artist Nicolas Meier (Jeff Beck) and Guitarist  Pete Roth will take you on a journey through all things Jazz Guitar with  a specific focus on Guitar Duo playing. This 6 session Module will  deliver a deeper insight into Harmony, Improvisation Melodic and  Harmonic, Chord melody Style, Rhythmic variations,  Simultaneous Improvisation, playing walking bass lines and chords and  much more. Each session will be based around a popular standard with the  final session on world-music and original modern composition  techniques.
All sessions have a section or element of:
- Playing at different speeds
- Playing in different Keys
- Analysing melodic and harmonic relationships
4. Â Focus on Rhythm in Comping and Melodic playing
Session 1 Focus: Developing Melodies/Supporting Melodies/Chord tone soloing.

- Introduction outlining the aim of the course
- Introduction session
- Satin Doll, play tune to familiarise
- Brief analysis (Jerry Cocker…)
- Interpretation of Melody
- How does this effect the comping (2feel, four, chord fragments, questions answer)
- Chord tone soloing (using Melody and Chord tones only)
- Swing feel.
8. When I fall in Love
- Rubato Techniques (Chord Melody style short explanation)
- Embellishments (Melodic and Harmonic embellishments)
- Chord tone soloing (consolidating technique)
- Comping for Ballads
- Cherokee
- Playing simple melodies well
- Fast tunes tips (Halftime feel, timing, counting)
- Chord tone soloing (Counting and keeping the form)
- The Days of Wine and Roses
- Brief analysis
- Revision and use of all elements of the session
